For many families, learning your child has special needs can be surprising, scary, and confusing. We understand these feelings and can help by linking you with community resources and support, connecting you with other families who “get it”, and listening with compassion as most of our staff are parents, siblings, or extended family members of people with disabilities.
The Arc of King County provides specialized services and activities in English, Spanish, and specifically for African American families. For other languages, we utilize interpreters.
Looking for resources or support?
The Arc of King County is the hub of information regarding local resources and support in King county. We help families identify, connect with, navigate, and utilize community resources such as:
- Support groups
- Early Intervention/ Birth-to-Three services
- Special Education
- Social Security benefits (e.g. SSI, SSDI)
- Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
Want to Connect with Other Families?
Our Parent to Parent (P2P) program believes that often the most valuable form of support comes from other parents who have traveled the road before you. We understand the emotions, myths, and realities of parenting a child with a disability. We don’t necessarily solve a family’s problem, but we are willing to listen and share our own experiences.
Want to make the word a better place for people with disabilities?
Our advocacy program provides civic engagement support, classes, and issue education.
