WE CAN END ISOLATION, the dangerous practice of forcing dysregulated students into spaces where they are kept alone and not allowed to leave.

BACKGROUND:
We all benefit when educators have effective strategies to address challenging behaviors in the classroom. Thanks to the advocacy of our disability community and civil rights guardians, a collective of schools, community organizations, OSPI, and educational consultants have worked diligently over the past few years to infuse school-based supports that reduce and eliminate the use of restraint and isolation.

Their remarkable achievements have inspired a vision for a broader community of practice, culminating in this inaugural statewide summit.

Learn from partners in the work as they reflect on valuable lessons learned, share aspirations and challenges, explore tools and strategies that work, and collectively forge a path toward creating safe, vibrant classrooms that foster a sense of belonging and promote meaningful learning for all students.
