Virtual Music & Mindfulness for Kids
With the return of in-person learning for many kids this year, mental health has become an issue of concern for many families. Anxiety, stress and depression have been increasing over the last two years; and, adding to the complexity, mental health concerns can be harder to spot in children, who may not have the words to name what they are feeling. Music therapy can help provide coping tools for recognizing and managing these difficult emotions. In this FREE virtual class, music therapist Rachel Lockerbie leads music-assisted relaxation activities, song sharing and playlist creation, lyric analysis and group singing, all with the goal of nurturing our mental health and wellness. No previous musical experience is needed. Parents and caregivers are invited to join as well; make it a weekly self-care day for the whole family!
