Building an Emotion Regulation Toolkit
Virtual learning, hybrid learning, the global pandemic, all of these events and more can make for a stressful environment. Even without these unique stressors, some individuals with autism spectrum disorders have difficulty with Emotion Regulation (ER). Teaching students to regulation their responses and emotions is not easy and take careful planning. In this workshop educators and care providers, will learn to build an ER toolkit with a thorough overview of ER and discussion of a variety of factors that increase or decrease an individuals ability to regulate their emotions. In the follow-up webinars participants will have the opportunity to expand their ER toolkit by learning strategies specific to 4 areas of ER: prevention, calming strategies, identification, and problem solving. Information and strategies presented will be appropriate for use in schools, home, and community settings.

Who should attend: Caregivers, providers, educators who work with individuals with ASD and/or emotion regulation challenges from preschool through high school
Content level: Beginner to intermediate
Clock hours: This program, when attended in full, offers 2 WA State approved clock hours for initial session and 1.5 clock hours for each follow-up session. Additional fees apply. They are NOT approved providers for other CEUs. Certificates of completion will be provided at the end of the workshop.
Optional Follow Up Webinars
Join a series of 1.5-hour follow up webinars for opportunities to learn specific strategies. These follow up webinars are intended to help participants build their toolkits in four areas of emotion regulation. Attend as many of the follow up sessions as you want. See the "Sessions" page for topics and details. Additional session registration fees apply.
