Representative Payee & Support Services to Prevent Homelessness Program
Representative Payee & Support Services to Prevent Homelessness Program assists individuals with developmental disabilities who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to access services that will enable them to secure and maintain long-term affordable housing, and develop individual advocacy skills through education, training, information, and leadership opportunities. The program’s goal is to increase independence and stability in the lives of vulnerable individuals with developmental disabilities.
Clients receive assistance from staff to exercise their rights concerning housing, employment and other systems related issues, as well as access to needed community resources in order to live as independently as possible.
Referrals by social workers, community agencies and self-referrals are welcome. We have an outreach team and two representative payees who are available to provide access to resources. An orientation at our office is generally provided for each new referral.

STABILIZE HOUSING
- Help with applying for housing assistance
- Assistance with landlord issues
- Support with paperwork as needed
REPRESENTATIVE PAYEESHIP
- Paying bills
- Coordination of benefits (Social Security, Department of Social & Health Services “DSHS”)
- Writing & issuing spending checks
- Reporting changes of income
- Responding to financial crises as needed
COORDINATION OF SERVICES
- Includes assistance with acquiring and maintaining DSHS benefits (if eligible), using services available through the Division of Developmental Disabilities “DDD”, and other community resources.
